Is phytolacca 'laka boom' the same as pokeweed?

I have just bought and planted a phytolacca 'laka boom'....i am aware that this is poisonous but having read about this online I am worried it will take over the garden and produce massive roots.....is this the same as pokeweed?

can an anyone advise? Should I throw this straight in the bin???

thanks....

It's not the same species, poke weed is Phytolacca americana.

If it's like pokeweed it will have large roots but they're not invasive and if you don't let it seed all over the garden it won'timage

  • I grow Phytolacca americana in my medicinal herb garden. It has whitish flowers and is stunningly beautiful and not at all invasive.  Love your Laka Boom.  Enjoy with delight.

  • Thank you both for the information & replies; sounds like I have the smaller but equally beautiful species... I bought it because of the stunning colours in an attempt to break up the mass of 'green' in the garden so was hoping to hold on to it; think I will leave alone for now and enjoy!  A bit less worried now!!
