What's eating my olive?

Hi folks,

Any idea what's eating my olive tree? I noticed a few holes in the leaves last year but the tree seemed fine, however, this year there are a lot more holes and the tree looks a bit sad (yellow leaves). I'm not sure if the two things are connected so I'd like your opinion.

Cheers

James

The damage to the leaves looks like they've received attention from a leaf-cutter bee - fascinating things and they'll do no lasting damage to the tree.

I wonder where it's building it's nest?  Have you got one of these in your garden? http://www.montybees.org.uk/content/how-make-homes-solitary-bees

The yellowing of the leaves is something different - is your tree in a pot or in the open ground?  What's the feeding/watering regime?

Thanks for the replies and info. image

Looks like it could be any number of perpetrators then. I'll have to keep an eye out for anything lurking suspiciously near the olive and try and catch them in the act. According to the link, it looks like the yellowing of the leaves may be due to over watering or just natural defoliation. At least there's nothing major going on.

    Thanks again.
