Where abouts to cut the leaves on pumpkins?

One of my pumpkins has white powdery mould. I've managed to identify it, and now know I should cut that leaf off.. I just don't know where! At the base of the leaf, or close to the stem? - I've murdered so many plants by accident, I'm scared to touch it!

Hi, yes, where the leaf meets the stem, sometimes they will snap off image
