Thank you Bekkie, I am carer for both my parents, dads 90 mums 86, the trouble is they won't say what is wrong until the very last minute, by then major surgery is involved.

she is getting a lot better and gets their breakfast now, so that's a help.

my daughter came up on Saturday, and being very efficient and organised, (unlike me!) she made a plan of the horseshoe shaped border marking down everything in there and where to move what in the Autumn.

She will come and help me with this, so that will be good.

i am aiming for mostly perennials, just in case I don't have the time next year. The geraniums and geums  sent to me will be good. I can just do a few annuals to fill gaps.

this year, it I has gone mad, I suppose the wet Spring brought everything on. The montbretia has definitely got to be thinned out, it's a bit of a thug but I love its bright orange flowers and there is always a bee in there.

the new long border is mostly perennials, I have lots more aquilegia seeds germinated, also put in some more Canterbury bells, foxgloves, lupins and delphiniums seeds for the following year.

you have to plan ahead with biennials.

i really must not dig anymore borders or beds, I just love it so.

Enough waffling, I have just found this post , unposted, I did it this morning!!,

Hi Lyn the Canterbury Bells are yours, The petunias are not trailing petunia but if you still want any 1 of them or all 3 just message me.

Lyn, they/you must be doing something right to get to that age! I think sometimes its sheer stubborness that keeps people going, defineately was in my nans case! Its exhausting to be a carer, very important to make time for you image

Sounds like your daughter has things sorted, she is welcome to come and organisemy garden too! Its not something that comes naturally to me im afraid!

I think im going to do something similar to you with perennials etc, have had lots of really good suggestions from the guys on here for that difficult border. Lyn life is too short, if digging more bordders and beds makes you happy, then do it image

Bekkie, my daughter has a sea side type front garden, you know, all chippings. and plants poking through, She would love a little yucca plant if you still have one left, I have lost track of who is sending what to where or to who, !!

Yes you are right about my parents, I think that because they both came from very poor areas they didnt eat any junk foods, never sweets or fry ups, my mum still has all her own teeth, never been to a dentist, dad hasnt any teeth, that makes it difficult for me as I sometimes gave to cook two meals because he cant eat what we have, he didnt want false ones as he didnt think he would live long enough to get the use out of them!  that was about 15 yrs ago they are both real characters, I could write a book about their lives.

  • Lyn I have not forgot about you and your cuttings, just been so busy these nights. I work a few jobs! kitchen porter, delivering leaflets, gardener, and trying, but failing to start a new business growing organic herbs and micro salad from home or there own business for the catering trade! I will get round to posting ur cutting soon, I promise! Its an all year round herb anyway, so no biggy if u even receive it in a few weeks, But eventually I will take time to prune some for you, I promise!

As towards ur mom and dad, well they seem like my kinda people! just like me, grew up poor and I am still the same sadly, but it makes them better people and they raise better children in my eyes at least, people who know the value of life! you are one of these people! Always remember ur roots, as its hard to find honest people these days!

Its even harder to find daughters who actually care enough to look after them, in these times! You are doing a fantastic job, and if ur parents don't thank you enough, I will, because there either too proud or to set in there way to think of thanking you for taking the time to help them,

I look after my mom, in shifts after she broke her hip in 7 places, she sadly has not walked since, so I feel for you, but I feel more for her, as she lost her independence!

People forget how easy they have it, if you can walk talk and do stuff normally, you don't understand how hard people have it that cant!

But people who lose the power of walking, lose so much more!

I was one of these people once, I was lucky enough to get back on my feet.

But it gave me a massive insight to those in my family and friends circle who cant!

    Just remember one thing!

One day YOU may be hit by a car!

I was! I was off my feet for nearly  2 years and wondering how the hell I paying the bills!

LYN I personally respect your time that you put into looking after your parents! hats off to you!

    You are a great girl!
