fuschia leaves turned brown

I planted a standard fuschia in my garden in May, it faces south-east. It had been growing/flowering so well. However, recently most of the leaves have turned brown. The leaves at the ends of the branches look okay (at the moment). What I should do? Is it a serious disease? Many Thanks!!!

Check under the leaves for rust, could be the problem. Or give it a feed of miracle grow.

  • Thanks all the response and BUMP the message.

I think it was a bit root bound when I bought it, that was the reason I planted in the ground immediately.

I did not soak the rootball at that time, I do remember I gave it good water after planting. I did not loosen any root -  just moved it from the pot to ground. I put some chicken manure on the top of soil – I thought that could feed the plant. I give it a good water and feed – weekly tomato feed, and water daily (when the last few weeks so hot and dry).

The brown leaves are weak and flaccid, when I touch them to try to look underneath they just drop on the ground.

Apart from the yellowing leaves the plant looks healthy, I wouldnt worry to much all fuchsias will shed some leaves during the season

  • After one month, my fuchsia is going to re-bloom soon, and all the brown leaves disappeared. I did not find the best way to look after it after this post. So I just let it look after itself. Now it looks happy again, and I am happy too. image
