Chilli advice

Hello all,

Need some advice on my chillies, first year growing so a little unsure.

They're all growing very well, from 4-6 inches new to over 18 inches now, but what size pots should i be moving them onto ?

I have:

* Apache

* Cayenne

* Banana

* Jalapeno

* Scotch Bonnet

What size pots best for all? Currently all in 5/6 inch pots in the greenhouse.

    4 litre pots are a good size, really depends on how huge your plants get and if they fill the pots with roots quickly. But don't go from a small to pot to a huge one in one go

    Thanks for fast reply.

    I think the 'Banana' variety gets to 90cm +

    They will all live in mini greenhouse on bottom shelf with all other shelves removed.

    Hi L, I think your chillies could go outside during the summer, they don't need to be kept in a GH, mine are all outside now.  We have a very long thread somewhere with lots of posts by our resident chilli expert (although she has been missing for a while - busy with work), some really useful info on there about chilli growing. I'll try and find it and copy the link it here.

    I've got four different types of chilli plant on the go at the moment, not got any peppers on them yet but have plenty of the chilli stalks starting to come on so it's just a matter of time.

    Anyway the reason i'm posting this is to ask if anyone growing chillis are interested in doing some seed swapping so we can have a go at growing different strains next year & compare notes, i bought some off ebay but i thought if we all get together we can just swap between us & sod ebay image & even if anyone fancys a go then yeah come on.

    If anyones interested when i finally get some peppers growing i have Cayenne (aka Tabasco), Jalapeno, Habanero & Numex (aka Razzmatazz)

    I'm growing my first batch of a chilli peppers called 'Basket of Fire' which according to the label are really hot, hence the name, I would say! What is the best way to cook with them please, as I don't want to blow my husbands head off image

    Chillis are meant to give meals a kick, some people like it hotter than others, if you don't want to blow your hubbys head off then don't use as many or remove the seeds, might be trial & error though to find your chilli comfort zone, have fun trying image
