Problem clematis

My Wadas Primrose cclematis flowered beautifully but since then it has little new growth and the leaves are very pale at the top and sickly looking at the bottom.  Does not look like wilt and I wonder if it needs a particular vitamin as I have never seen leaves pale in this way on a clematis before. Any ideas anyone?

My Nelly Moser in a pot did that, I thought I'd fed it but perhaps I forgot. I gave it a good dose of rose fertiliser and a good watering and it starting growing healthier leaves. They are greedy plants and a clematis grower told me that they like a really good soak, at least a gallon, every week when it's hot and dry.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
