Why does my festalis ismene (Peruvian daffodil, spider Lilly) die after 2 days

I'm a new gardener. I started this spring without knowing any thing about gardening and was determined to grow a cutting garden. I have been very successful in that all of my bulbs (I only planted hybrid perennials) are blooming. Why does my Festalis  Ismene (Peruvian daffodil, spider Lilly) die after 2-3 days?   What am I doing wrong. The same happened with my Tigria.  Advice?

Do you mean the flower only lasted two days?  This might be normal, like a daylily.  I have no idea, but someone who knows will be along soon.

  • Yes. Lasted just 2 days. 2 of them bloomed and died 2 days later.

Did they have enough water?  I don't know about Tigria, but I understand that the Spider Lily likes quite moist conditions.

Or possibly - are they the sort of flower that fades after pollination?  This might explain why they work better as cut flowers where they are less likely to be pollinated ....... just a thought image

My peruvian daffodil did the same.  I kept them in the greenhouse in pots.  When the flower died they started producing seed pods which I cut off to keep the energy in the bulb for next year.
