Help - should I chop down the tree?
A neighbour has cut down their tree as it is a men acne and will affect the drains and house foundations.
The he trees were put in when the estate was built 6yrs ago. Unless e will affect the property and drains we'd like ours to stay put, but don't ant to find issues in the coming years.
any help/advice would be greatly appreciated!

Hi, to post a picture on here you need to click on the small green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your post, and follow the instructions to upload a photo from your pc. I'm afraid it doesn't work for phones - yet.
Property developers are usually quite careful about what type of trees they plant around the houses. Not all trees are a menace to drains etc.

If the houses are new-build, roots will affect neither drains nor foundations.
Maybe your neighbour just didn't like the tree.
What sort of tree is it?
How far from the house. or drain
New build houses are usually on concrete rafts and the roots wont affect it.
here's a pic. Think It may be some kind of cherry - White blossom in 'clumps'.
Apparently they had a tree specialist round who said all the houses with these trees would have issues. The tree is about 6ft from the front of the house. (drains do run under the front garden).
Not sure on the NHBC to be honest - would need to look into it
Don't trust our developers - a lot of people have had issues with shoddy workmanship (hence thought I'd try get some advice).
Thanks for the replies
Well if its any consolation, the people opposite my mums planted a double flowered pink cherry about 1960. It finally got chopped down about 10 years ago when the couple that owned the house all that time died. It was about 12 feet from the front of the house. They had the old style foundations and it never bothered them. Proper concrete pipe drains shouldn't be bothered either.
I had two of these right in front of a house where I lived - literally just a few feet away. They were at least 50 years old and huge - we never had any drain problems or foundation problems and neither did out neighbours, and we both lived in ancient Listed houses.
This tree specialist - he didn't also have a tree felling firm did he?
We get ones like that around here, offering to get rid of the menace in our gardens
