Stellar cherry fan trained

Five years ago I planted a two year olds steller cherry on a very dwarfing root stock gielder 5 or something like that.. I have trained it as a fan.

For the past three years I have had a maximum of 16 fruit each year developing from a very good set of blossom. The fruit begins to develop and shortly after it starts to go brown and eventually falls. This year I have found only 7 fruits that are developing as normal.

just after the fruits began to form the leaves at the growing tips have all curled up. After inspection I found small black bugs.

Last year the leaves turned a mottled green brow and becme lace like.

This year I sprayed with an insecticide but the leaves are curling again.

I have contacted at least two experts at our local garden centres without a result.

I am at a loss on what to do next. Give it one more year or chop it down now!

Can anyone help?

I can supply some photos if required

Agree with ChrissieB here. We had the same problem with our Morello Cherry until I gave it a good spraying in late Winter before the leaves appeared with a Winter Wash (Soft horticultural soap preparation).

Our Stella has done far better with another set of Cherry trees near by. However it still does not stop the birds from taking the fruit when they are still white!
