Never buying anything off this website again

Well I thought I would try and be green fingered, I'm not the  best gardner in the world but I try, so I order some flowers off this gardners world site, they came a month late and they were dead, I expected to receive blooming flowers instead plants that need to go into a green house to grow then plant in your garden, don't remember reading that bit, also price wise was crazy, no bargins on this site, I will stick to my local market, TOTALLY RIPPED OFF.

There are new distance selling regulations effective across the EU. You have 14 days for complete refund if not satisfied. I am pretty sure plants don't come under exemptions.

There are a few offers Nic and I must admit I have been disappointed, however usually if they are plug plants they will say so.  I recently got the free perennial offer (where you just pay postage), they all had to be potted immediately and then re potted, they are now outside and ready to be planted pretty soon.  Unfortunately a lot of the offers do take some TLC.  You should contact the company that provided them and ask for a refund.

Most professional growers who sell plants by catalouges and delivery by post have a Product guarantee scheme whereby should you purchase any plants that arrive in a condition that meet your approval you will be offered a replacement or a full refund.

Some growers will offer further guarantee should a plant not grow you will be refunded

I you buy plants from say Ebay sellers you are purchasing under the distant buyers act whereby the seller must offer a refund within 14 days if a product is of sub standard and again Ebay rules state that any product that requires a refund will be guaranteed by ebay themselves so you cannot loose out.

You need to check with the supply or the company in which you made the purchase from they are obligation is to you as a customer if however you fail to get any redress from them you have the option of going to trading standards to get them involved.

If the price is normally "too good to be true" don't expect full blooms of fantastical flowers at the size you'd expect to buy from a local market. If they were that good a quality why would they be giving them away so cheaply?

But they ought certainly still be alive - even in need of TLC. Plenty of people have given you email addresses to contact.

I've just brought the 48 lavenders for postage costs only. I fully expect the plants to be very small and in need of potting on and protecting over winter before going out on display next year. I expect this because they are so cheap, I did my research, came on the forum and read of previous people's experiences buying these "bargains". As with most things in life you get what you pay for.

    EMAIL ADDRESS: [email protected].

  • Hello,

Our 48 free plant offers (just paying £5.65 for postage) are supplied as young plants ready to grow on.

We don't send out dead plants, but occasionally they can be held up in transit, which unfortunately can cause them to dry out or perish. In this instance, or if you're unhappy with your plants in any other way when they arrive, please do contact us at [email protected] and let us know, as we may be able to offer replacements or a refund.

    Best wishes,

    Gardeners' World offers team
