Pear tree trouble

So my cherry tree has died. Now my pear tree seems to be doing the same sort of thing. It lives in a large pot, it's fed & watered, but the new shoots have died and some of the older leaves are dying too. I have taken some photos but can't work out how I can put them on here. Any help would be good. The tree is 3 years old, it did have about 6 pears on it, but they fell off.

To post a picture on here you need to click on the green tree icon on the toolbar above where you type your post, and then follow the instructions to upload a pic from your pc.  Sadly it doesn't work for phones - yet image

Thank you Dovefromabove. Not a brillaint picture, but better than none.

Can anyone help please? I don't want to lose this tree too. Thanks

it could be a fungal infection of the new sappy growth? cut it back to green, nice looking growth and hope that it regenerates, and bin the cuttings - don't compost them if its a fungus it'll survive the composting process.

also fruit trees never do well in pots (no matter what the garden centres tell you) they just get too much of a fluctuation of hydration (too dry then too wet and back again) and nutrients. much better in the ground.

  • Thank you, I will chop the dying bits off.
