Poorly Loquat tree

Dear Gardeners.

I'm wondering if someone out there might be able to help me.

I live in central London and I have a fairly large Loquat tree in my front garden. Due to the mild weather and our sheltered street I am lucky that my lovely tree actually has fruit every year.

However this year it is covered in fruit, but it has lost nearly 90% of it's leaves, and is not looking very happy.

Any tips on what could be wrong, or how I can help it?

Many Thanks

Rachel (A very novice gardener)

Hi Rachel, i havent got any experience with this tree, but it sounds like it is becoming exhausted, i would give it a jolly good water and feed, it may even be worth taking some of the fruit off, hope your tree gets better image
  • Thanks Bekkie.

I think you're right. Planning to get the fruit off this arvo.

    Thank you for writing back.

I would give the tree a good water and feed before I took any fruit off.  If the tree perks up you will get a harvest.  If it does not perk up with a good dose of TLC, then think of reducing the burden of some of the fruit.
