Something`s enjoying my peas and it aint me!

Good morning - I`ve grown some peas from seed and they started of growing great guns, but in the last 2 weeks they`ve started to be eaten - this coincided with the buds and flowers appearing - now new growth is being eaten as quickly as it arrives by something. Does anyone have any ideas what it may be and how I can treat the problem to allow at least some pea harvest this year? There is no slug trails and i`ve looked for caterpillars, but can`t see any - Any help and advice is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

Tom

Slugs, snails and pigeons love peas, so take your pick, but from where the damage is, I'd go for snails.

Snails seem to be a bigger problem than they have ever been this year - my poor huge alliums had all their stems scraped clean by them, I saw them by the score - lots of tiny little ones as well, which hide everywhere.  Peas have suffered like yours, ditto beans and chard - ugh!  Don't know where they're all coming from - it almost looks as if the usual slug wave has metamorphosed into snails this year!!
