Hi Irishgardener, welcome and thank you for your compliments.
Lucky you, so much green and wild land to play with in a lovely part of the world.
The advice given to you above is real good. Take it slow and enjoy the wilderness with your sons.Do plant some favourite trees with them and add more to mark special events. I have a few in my small patch which I started planting trees in 40 years ago. I appreciate them very much now ,as they bring back precious memories.
The wild life that visit enjoys them too!
Children are a gift and grow up too fast and suddenly they have moved on
Good luck and do enjoy your special bit of paradise. And yes, take lots of pictures, you'll have fun in years to come looking at them and we would love seeing them too
Hi Irishgardener, Welcome see you got wee ones now is the time to start them off with
a fantastic hobby make a raise bed fill it with a mixture of soil and let them go wild planting simple things to start with, that way as they grow up they can take over from you
Hello and welcome Irishgardener, The idea that Chris 25 writes on is excellent. Now in my 70s I still remember going with my Mum and younger brother to choose a packet of flower seeds each from one of those lovely old seed merchants we used to have. .I chose zinnia while my brother had a packet of nasturtiums I did get some flowers but needless to say not as many as my brother! We soon progressed to a small garden each and grew a variety of things
Hi Irishgardener. This is a marvellous place to be - but a warning - you will see so many beautiful gardens and wonderful plants that you want it all at once. Take heed of the advice to take it piece by piece and you will get there in the end.

Oh goodness me Irishgardener, you have a lot on your plate.
Good luck with the blankcanvas, I had one of those once and there's only two things I would say about my experiences:
Landscape before you plant and choose your plants wisely.
Top of the morning to you, irishgardener, welcome to the forum.......goodness, what do you do in your spare time?

Welcome Irishgardener
Four acres - wonderful! Start training those under-gardeners nice and early - they'll prove to be very useful
