Put some netting round it and grow a clematis or any climber you prefer.

You will need to loosen the soil around it and apply some nice well rotted compost. The tree wont branch out again so marvelous for a climber.

I'd use an evergreen one then once it's covered you'll never see the netting again

Cut off at a chosen height and add a table top to make a garden table to sit at or a shallow bowl to make a bird bath or feeder

Before you decide on a plant...

This evening a friend showed me what they had done to an old tree trunk which was  was slightly smaller in  height than yours. The top 2ft has been carved into an owl and painted in natural colours. It looks ever so effective behind shrubs and at the back of the border.

She got the idea when in a local shop where wooden, hand carved ornaments were being sold and asked the shop keeper if he would carve something into the stump.

What about an evergreen clematis as that will also give you winter/ spring flowers, a rose for summer and maybe a honeysuckle ot jasmine for scent? image
