1st pic looks like Willowherb and 2nd looks like a Red Deadnettle
Is 2 a dead nettle? I have one similar and thought it was a salvia or hedge woundwort or something...
Although they might be the same family...
Not that I'm up to much plant IDing...
One is a willowherb
and I think you're right Victoria, hedge woundwort. Does it smell really pungent when you pull it?
In the sticks near Peterborough
Definitely, the second is woundwort and the first is either hoary willow herb which grows to about two feet, or great willowherb (also 'codlins and cream') which will reach 6ft in its preferred (slightly damp) spots. HC
I think that will be hoary then. Great WH is Epilobium hirsutum isn't it? I've got loads of that and this isn't it.
I have this one as well but I've never got round to IDing it

Thank you all for your replies, much appreciated. Looking at your suggestions and photos online I'm pretty sure one is hedge woundwort (it does smell pungent) and one a type of willowherb (possibly great willowherb).
Thank you again, will get to work pulling them out, we have enough weeds around us for the wildlife to enjoy so wont feel too bad getting rid of them!
