Sorry Victoria Sponge - I forgot to comment on your post, which I think had an important point i.e. the silent heart attack.  Thankfully my Doctor is being very thorough and has sent me for an ECG and bloods etc.

To clarify, I didn't have asthma after all, I was severely lacking in iron so no problems at all with weed killer.  Just wanted to set the record straight image

  • I had a strange experience this year.....I suddenly developed puffy lumps under my eyes and my face went red and blotchy ! It was worse when I was outside in the garden was better if I took an antihistamine tablet . These symptoms eventually went after several weeks. I never discovered what had caused this it's possible that I touched a plant whose sap made me light sensitive for a while ....Has anyone else had this happen to them ?  I do get asthma symptoms from time to time don't know what triggers it though I suspect Maize when in flower.....I am using a nasal spray at the moment which seems to control it far better than the asthma sprays. I agree with everyone else though...take the antihistamines and carry on gardening ! !

  • By the way CharleyD  glad to see that you don't have asthma after all hope the Iron sorts out the problem

Charley, glad you found the cause. Hope you are better soon.

Butterfly, the worst plant for causing photosensitivities are euphorbias. They include many weeds. If you cut or handle any euphorbias or spurges, always wear gloves.

Thanks Butterfly and Fidgetbones.  I was relieved that it had nothing to do with gardening and yes feeling much better now with lots of iron tablets duly swallowed.

I didn't realise that some plants could cause photosensitivities.  But hey, yes let's keeping taking the sprays, inhalers and tablets and stay out in the garden image

  • Thanks for the advice fidgetbones yes I shall certainly wear gloves without fail in future !
