Honeysuckle help needed!

Hi All,

I hope some of you folks might be able to give me some advice on how I can save my honeysuckle from the compost heap!

I bought the plant young and fairly spindly (but pretty healthy looking) from Tesco in April and it started out really well. It's grown at least 4 foot since that time. In the past few weeks I've noticed little spots of what I thought looked liked powdery mildew. I sprayed it with a generic bottle of something or other that said it dealt with powdery mildew and black spot but with no results.

The spots have grown and spread.. I'm really hoping you can advise me on what I could try next!

Thank you!

(It's my first post so please be gentle with me!)

Hi jen, dont worry, thats common with honeysuckle, i think its when they get too warm/ dry or both, ive got one on the back fence which does it every year, sometimes it even looses its leaves, but they come back when it cools down, i grow vaginia creeper (possibly boston ivy- im never sure) with it now so its leaves cant be seen in high summer but the fragrance van still be enjoyed image

Hi Rebecca, thanks so much for your response, I feel much better now!

The plant has definitely dropped a few leaves but nothing too worrying. I read somewhere about keeping their roots in the shade so I put a bit of gravel down, maybe some more is needed?

Thanks for your help and fingers crossed for a full recovery!
