brown rot on apple trees
We moved in to our home last year. we have several fruit trees that all appeared to suffer from brown rot (I think). Well this year it is worse and some of the leaves are falling already, they are quite mature trees.
I'm going to have to treat them with something - picking off leaves and fruit that are effected is going to leave me with about 7 half bare trees.
My question is this; next door have a plum that seems to have died of it, and may have been the original source. They have cut it down....well they have cut the branches off and left about 7 ft of trunk. Do I need to kindly ask them to take the whole thing down so that it doesn't affect my trees? or do I need to treat their stump as well as my trees?
many thanks.

It really depends on what the fungus is, any chance of some pics? You are doing the right thing by picking off the infected bits. Its also a good idea to clear the area under the tree as spores often live there, then treat it to a jolly good water and feed, it also may be worth taking all the fruit off this year, so that it can build strength.
Another thinh you can do is wash the tree down, you can get special washes which you then dilute
Thanks for the advice. Yes I pretty sure it is brown rot. I will get some treatments for it. Cheers.
