suitable lawnmower for lady gardener
Could anyone suggest a suitable lawnmower for a lady gardener, who needs to transport one in the back of her Corsa, to mow customers lawns. I have had no experience of mowers(other than my push one!) so need one that is light and easy to use. Any suggestions please!!

What size lawns is she planning on mowing? Are they on slopes? Or excessively uneven? If they are only small (flat) gardens does she really need it to be powered or is she strong enough to use a push one? (Push one will be lighter as it wont have all the gearing).
One assumes she will require a petrol machine as I can't see customers being best pleased at having to plug her in.
As a lady gardener myself, I have gone with the 39cm mountfield mower (self propelled) that Screwfix do. the handles fold down and it it pretty light for a petrol mower. I can lift it into my van with no effort, and it would be more than possible to get it into the back of a car. you can get the push version which is about £25 cheaper, but to be honest, the self propelled bit makes it so much easier! I have posted a link to it below.

I have had a look at the lawnmower on Screwfix site, and it sounds ideal. It is so much better to get advice from people who have actually had practical experience with items . Many Thanks
You are very welcome! any time!
You might also like to consider the Hayter Spirit 41 Petrol Mower. I believe this is one of the lighter models in the Hayter range. I've never used this particular mower as I have one of the bigger mowers in their range but would personally always buy a Hayter or a Honda rather than a Mountfield. In my experience Honda and Hayter mowers are much better quality.
i guess it depends on how many hours a week it is going to be used. Hayter and Honda are indeed good makes, but can be a lot pricier. for the price the Mountfield is a good little runner. I use it for about 8-10 hours a week on average during mowing season, and I've had it 2 years now.
Have you thought of as battery powered one? A friend of mine started doing gardens to earn a living and bought one plus a spare battery. She swears by it. I think it was a Bosch but will ask her next time we chat.
We have a petrol Flymo hover mower at home and since buying it mowing has definitely become a 'man's job'. Even if I could get it started (I don't seem to have the wrist action) it is extremely heavy to use - and I'm no weakling.
