Wight/brown blobs on hydrangea

The plant was my deceased grandma's so it means a lot to my mum and I.

    It looks like Hydrangea scale to me, treatable with chemical spray, like Bug Clear or Provado.

    Yes, definitely scale insects and almost certainly the one P&P mentions above.  RHS treatment advice here:

    Thanks guys, really helpful image . there are a couple of dead leaves on the floor now covered in the things so I'll have to try some chemicals... Wish me luck image
