Can anybody tell me what this is?

As the title suggests, does anyone know what this is? Its about 1 metre tall. And would you dig it out or leave it be?

    It looks like one of the Persicarias to me. Fairly invasive, but pretty flowers. I would keep it, but I am sure many would disagree.

    I agree Punkdoc -  Persicaria affinis I think - lots of different varieties - I like them but they need to be kept in their place.
