New Hedge and Weeds

Planted some " instant hedge " a few months ago and the weeds seem to love growing under it

Apart from regular weeding which I hate is there some way of suppressing most of the weeds....bark etc

Advice please friends

Unless your hedge has been planted through a weed suppressant membrane I think the only answer is weeding.

Make sure that you weed a good strip about 3 feet wide with the hedge in the middle - that will help stop weeds creeping into the hedge.

The weeds would still grow through them, they might stop new weeds from seeding from underneath, but any seeds which land on top of it will still seed.

As well as agreeing with Fleurisa, I think they'd stop you weeding efficiently and if mounded up against the hedge saplings might cause rot to set in image
