My Charlotte potatoes are looking very healthy and are just starting to flower. When will I know they are ready for digging up?

Reach your hand into the soil and feel around - if you can feel potatoes the size of hen's eggs then they're ready image

Aren't first earlies ready 12 weeks after planting?

I did a test dig on our first earlies, which started to flower a couple of weeks back, but there wasn't much down there, but there was a root with lots of little tiny baby potatoes on, so I think I dug too early.  Will try again at the end of June.
