I've found the (10 bags purchased so far...) cheap stuff from Wickes to be some of the better quality (texture, lack of smell, lack of bolts and chunks in it) I've used.

  • I found 3 snails in my bag of un opened compost this morning!!! as if I haven't got enough of the b*ggers!!!!!!!!!!!

Jacks Magic is good, although it dries out quickly.  But not everybody is happy using a product that is 80 - 90 percent peat.

  • well I give them beer every night...!

This problem is not going to go away as more and more has to be recycled to reach targets.

I am never really sure if coir is eco-friendly. Is it viable to ship it so far from its country of origin?

As its a by-product of a huge market product its quite(if not very) eco friendly... Its not like 10 million coconuts died in vain for it and its weight to use/need ratio is perfect for shipping.
