baytree under attack
Can anyone tell me what this bug is that is attacking my Baytree. It curls the edge of the plant. When I unroll it lots of tiny blue bit fall out and there are the lots of little bugs. How do I treat it as it is on a lot of the young leaves. thank you

Hi Bajangirl
Rotten little aphids - if you have a garden hose try to wash off as many as you can with a jet of water, then I'd mix up a solution of washing up liquid and water - not terribly strong, about 10% would be plenty - and using a hand sprayer (I use a well cleaned out one from the daily shower spray) spray all the little blighters with soapy solution.
I find Ecover washing up liquid really works and doesn't harm the leaves at all so you can still use them for cooking.
The washing up liquid will kill the bugs - you may have to repeat the treatment from time to time, but it works and won't harm the baytree.
Good luck

Thanks for your help; I was in the process of pruning the bay tree when I discovered the little devils. I will give it try.
