Have been trying to identify this Peony but without success. It's flowers are white with a pinkish tinge and normally get that heavy that I have to support them. Any help much appreciated.
Could be 'Nancy Nicholls', you can wire supports for the bushy types of plant which need staking. They're readily available at GC's or online or you can make your own.
Thanks for that Dave. Most years I seem to just get one flower on this plant. The rest start budding and normally go brown and die off. The remaining flower normally goes the same way but this year it seems to be showing more of its full potential.
It was planted in its spot about 14 years ago so can't remember how far down it was put in. The plant is against a fence facing roughly S/W. There is however, a large oak tree at the bottom of the garden which creates a lot of dappled shade but come one 1pm that part of the garden gets full sunshine.
I think I'd keep it well mulched with some farm yard manure and watered. Positions against fences and walls can create a rain shadow, so some tlc should give you a better display next year. Put any plant supports in in the autumn, so come spring the plant can grow up through it.

How deeply is it planted Dean and is it in shade. Both can cause what you describe,
