Trouble is, fast growing to 6ft will mostly want to be much taller. However - photinia x fraseri 'Red Robin', prunus laurocerasus (laurel), prunus lusitanica (Portugal laurel), pittosporum tenuifolium, griselinia littoralis (green or variegated). Bear in mind that pittosporum and griselinia are New Zealanders and won't appreciate so much sites that are exposed to the cold north and east winds.
For an exposed site, don't discount the hollies (a bit slower) and some of the more elegant conifers, like cryptomeria japonica 'Elegans'.
I pinched a bit of escallonia when i was in devon in 2008, its a flippin triffid now, but not sure if thats what you are looking for! Where will it be?

Its in a sheltered corner, I have had to remove a rather large conifer that was hiding my water butts so I need something to replace it.
Thanks everyone for your response , I have plenty of suggestions to consider.
