Shrubs and plants dying in established border

Many of my holly trees, laurels and other plants have begun to die within my border. They been there for 10 years or so. The Peartree in the middle of this border has also developed some very strange yellow marks on the leaves I don't know if this is connected. The border is now looking rather sad!
