Bit Disappointed By Gardeners' World Live This Year

in Talkback
Third year in a row we have been, at least it didn't rain but there were a hell of a lot of exhibitors with nothing to do with food or gardening. Not sure we will go again...

We also went to the show yesterday - it was very warm & pretty crowded, so the discount ticket offers must be working. (Ours were discount tickets).
My "complaint" involves the number of people with plant trollies, that they pulled around behind them. You need your wits about you! I spent a lot of time looking at the floor in front of me, to make sure there isn't one of the pesky things ready to send me flying. The other thing is that when people stop to look at the exhibits, the trollies are taking up so much room that no-one else can get anywhere near. I know they are more convenient than having a load of carrier bags, but I can see an accident one of these days (if one hasn't happened already!).
I also went yesterday. As Ann says it was very hot and crowded and those trolleys are a nuisance.
Maybe they could set up a trolley park, a bit on the lines of the supermarket trolley parks. Park your trolley somewhere central, maybe a key or token for security and then you can put stuff in them as you want and collect them before you go home.
What do other people think?
I did buy some stuff (no trolley!) but had to get back to a coach and didn't have time to pick up some bargain clematis - £3 each for nice little plants. They must have been good as the queue was quite long.
That's a good idea boatingbelle!
Generally speaking, gardeners are a pleasant bunch and are pretty easy going, but I could imagine "trolleyrage" breaking out at any minute!!.
Didn't Perennial have a Plant Creche there? They do at lots of shows. For a small donation to the Gardener's charity, you can leave your trolley there and keep coming back to fill it with plants, saving you the inconvenience of trying to steer it round people, which often slows you down a lot. For those who don't know, if you are happy to help staff a Perennial Plant Creche for a couple of hours, you will be given a free ticket to that show. I know they were recently looking for more volunteers for their Hampton Court Plant Creche. Contact their Volunteer Coordinator, Laura Garnet via Twitter @act4perennial or 07717 727213 for more details. July 8-13. If you are on Facebook you can have a look at their page: Perennial GrbsHelper
