Potted delphiniums

Hi I have just come away from my greenhouse very confused. I had 4 delphiniums plants, grown from seed in early spring, that have just literally fallen off their pots. Weirdly the leaves and stems look really healthy and the roots look really healthy but they have just separated at soil level.  As you can see the stems and leaves are still all attached to each other - Has anyone any idea whats going on?

That would be my guess too, fidget.

Liz, it would be wise to break the rootball apart and check that there aren't any vine weevil grubs in there though.  They may be in the centre and eating their way out!

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • I thought that it might be vine weevil grubs, so I did have a little look through the roots, perhaps I should have another more thorough search!
