Stinking Fungus

HELP PLEASE can anyone tell me how to get rid of this foul smelling fungus.  I've tried weed killer, strong solution of boiling water and salt.  It's the most foul smelling plant I've ever smelt, I'm not a devoted gardener, but do my best and now at my wits end.

It sounds like Stinkhorn - google Stinkhorn fungus and see if that's what you've got.

They grow on decomposing wood and are frequently found on layers of woodchip/bark mulch.

If that's what you've got clear away the decomposing wood in that area and it should clear the problem.

  • Thanks to all of you for suggestions I'll give them a go. I am very grateful for the advice.

  • I found a crazy one the other day, same family, the stinkhorns. It's called the red cage fungus. Google it, it's fantastic. HC
