Agapanthus Flowers??

I was given a couple of large pots of agapanthus which had not been split/fed etc for years from an old neighbour. They were very densely packed and I don't think they flowered much in the last year or so.

I split them, changed the compost and repotted the 2 pots into 4.The plants look very healthy and green but to date no flowers.I have given them a good water once a week, they do dry out in between and I have fed them with tomato feed a few times.I do not know what variety they are.Are they likely to flower or have I done something wrong????help!

sweetpeacheese I believe that agapanthus flower well when they are pot bound. It might be a little early in the year for them to flower. You won't have harmed them by potting on it might just be that they don't flower this year. If you have put them into larger pots it might take them longer. A tomato feed was fine but if they've had a few feeds I'd not give anymore.

I don't know about watering requirement.

    Hi Sweetpeacheese image

KEF has it spot on - agapanthus like to feel quite snug in their pot - they might miss a year this year, but somehow I doubt it - mine are only just beginning to throw up some flower buds and mine are quite an early variety.  Keep them in a sunny spot and carry on as you are - it sounds about right to me.

After they flower I give mine a sprinkling of Fish Blood & Bone meal to help build up the bulb for the following year.
