Aloe vera plants
Hi guys
i have two aloe plants that I bought just over a year ago. Both did very well outside in the summer and produced lots of little aloe plants.
I brought them in the house over the winter and put them both near sunny windows. They both appeared to be really happy and still thriving, until it went to take a fallen leaf off one, and the whole plant came away in my hand
I immediately repotted it in the same mix as before in the hope that it would re-root itself. It hasn't. It still looks a gorgeous green colour and very firm to the touch.
How can I save my lovely aloe?

Hi Fruitcake,
Before you put your plant back into the soil you should inspect the soil for vine weevil,
it looks like a cream coloured maggot. These vine weevil hatch out in the soil under the plant and eat the roots the plant will look ok until it has very little or no root to sustain it, then it will keel over and its too late to save. Vine weevil love pots so in May you should water the soil in pots with something like Provado vine weevil killer, dont wait until the plants keel over.
Also its good practice when repotting to always use fresh compost !!!!
Hi both
apologies for the late reply, I could see this on my phone in work but I couldn't remember my password
Although i I did repot it straight away, it was with fresh compost and a mix of gravel and sand, exactly as before. The compost was sieved too so very little chance of those evil weevils. Both plants had very little water over the winter, and don't get that much now. Their pups had a bit more water until they'd established themselves but they're all happy as little piggies now
having a good look at it now, it has lost all it's white specks and is noticeably different in size to the other one. It looks droopy and sad compared to the other one too. I think I have my answer
But thank you for replying
