the garden is rectangle in shape in each corner i have hemorocolis, smoke bush, pieris & pieris there is also quite a large buxus bush shaped like a mushroom and a well established pieris within the gravel on one side of centre plot so really i need another plant/shrub/small tree for opposite side of centre plot aswell as the plant/shrub/small tree for centre if that makes sense

its so hard to decide on what to put the centre plot did have a viburnum tree but it got viburnum beetle and was ruined with it eating all the leaves and it stunk! so as of now we have a square in the centre of garden ( bulit up with cobbles to make the square shape) which resembles a small meterorite has hit it lol could i perhaps put a picture on here so people can see my dilema?

After much research and deliberation i have opted for Erigeron karvinskianus & Weigela florida Monet ('Verweig') (PBR)
(weigelia) for my 2 plants i looked at the Phormium and as i live in north west it wasnt hardy enough we have had quite low twmperatures over last few years in winter so didn't want to risk it thanks for everyones advice! image
