gladioli

Hi

Can I ask you clever greenfingered people for some advice please. I'm a very (very) novice gardener and I saw the chap up the road had a beautiful display last summer of gladioli, so thought I would try my hand at growing some. I planted bulbs in march, but all that's come up is leaves, good strong ones mind, but no sign of flower buds. When do they come? Or have I gone and done it all wrong??!image

They're on their way Caroline - if you've got healthy leaves you'll get some flowers.  Depending on the variety they flower from July - Sept/Oct.  You've done it right, you just have to be patient image

The ones I left in from last year are slightly ahead of the new ones I planted this year, but i don't expect flowers until  July at the earliest.

Aww thankyou Dovefromabove! Patience isn't my strong point, I was out every day after planting them, looking for signs of growth! But it's good to know that flowers are on their way!  I don't know what variety they are - am ashamed to say I got them from poundland so they could be any sort, labelling is not their strong point! Thanks again. x
