Can you help identify this flower

TrubillTrubill Posts: 11

Hi

I am new to this forum and wasn't sure how to attach a picture - hope this is ok.  I have tried to identify this blue flower which has appeared in my garden - I think thanks to our feathered friends!  I would love to know what it is - can anyone help me? Thanks

Hi Trubill, I'm pretty certain it is Borage (Borago officinalis), very similar to Comfrey, but has open blue flowers instead of the bell-shaped (and usually purple) ones which Comfrey has.

    Alkanet?

    Yup. Green alkanet.

It is indeed green alkanet.  The flower petals are pointed on borage (same family though.)

Alkanet - which, in my experience, is a nuisance with long, strong roots!  (pretty, though)

I agree, alkanet, borage flowers are larger.

Thank you for this - It is pretty so I might not dig it up yet - I'll keep an eye on it's spread though!
