scarlet pimpernel

B3B3 Posts: 27,456

I have some scarlet Pimpernel in my garden. The weather last year seems to have suited it and it is doing well. However it is dangerously close to the path !

What is the best way to propagate it? If I collect seeds, what should I do with them?

In London. Keen but lazy.

With hardy plants the best time to sow is when the plant sows. Just throw them where you'd like them to grow

I've chucked them about before but I never see them again! Would like to have a go in a slightly more controlled environment

Sow them on a pot of well draining compost, cover with grit and leave them outside. They are hardy plants and do not need protection. cosetting might finish them off

Another of those plants that I spend as much time weeding out as I can spare. I comes up everywhere in my Rock garden and smothers the more desirable plants. Terrible stuff.

Thanks all. There is always a place in my garden for 'weeds' - unless they don't know who's boss!
