What to do with lupins
Hello, my dad grew me some beautiful lupins from seed which have flowered this year and are stunning.
The problem is I don't know how to look after them now. They got battered by rain yesterday so quite a few have snapped, and it looks like more smaller flowers coming up.
Do you stake lupins, deadhead them, will they come back next year ?
Any advice gratefully received. Have been so surprised by them I'm going to find some more. Just can't decide if I like the smell or not...

Yes, if you dead head them, the smaller heads will flower, but will probably stay smaller.
I don't stake mine, but if it is required, why not
Lupins can be annual as well as perennial- hopefully yours are the perennial sort and they'll be back next year.
Hello, I am new to the form and relatively inexperienced in the garden. I grew Lupins from see 2 years ago which produced a fantastic display of flowers and colour last year. This year I was expecting an even better display however probably only had about a fifth of the display .. some of the plants had rotted at the base and into root.
Should I dig out the rotted plants (probably obvious) and any advice to securing the remaining decent plants for future years?
I was interested to see Victoria Sponge's comment that "Lupins can be annual as well as perennial", I thought they were all perennial and I possibly only had annual varieties. Lesson learned I should maybe pay more attention to my seed information to avoid confusion.
