Plant identification please

Hello,

We have this plant/weed growing over from what seems to be next door's garden( or the back ( as we back onto the Downs), and I don't know what it is although it's very prolific. I don't think ( hope it's not) from the knotweed family, although it looks similar, and I wondered if anyone knew this plant? (Hope these links work)

Thanks in advance for your help.

It looks to me like Russian Vine -  Fallopia baldschuanica, (aka Polygonum balschuanicum, Mile a Minute Vine)

Thank you so much for your quick replies. LOL Dove, yes agreed it is a mile a minute growing plant! Oh and just Googled it, and it says it is a relative of Japanese Knotweed...Oh dear, hope it's not as dangerous..

Funny I tried to grow one on an ugly wall years ago, it just never took off. Must be my green thumbsimage

I had them same experience Bal. But one in another garden was so heavy its supporting tree fell over.

I find it a very ugly plant

Hahaha Bal, want some of mine?

I actually think that it's quite pretty nutcutlet when it flowers, and don't mind it growing over the pergola. Just need to keep it in check I think.
