cornflower stems like cotton

I planted some cornflower seeds about two weeks ago into an outside cold frame and they started really well. However, we had a hot day or two and I wasn't home to open the doors or lid. When I came home, the stems had gone really skinny and the seedlings had toppled over. What can I do to revive them or are they too far gone

It sounds like they have wilted and perished, if they were still ok they would have recovered after being watered and removed from the heat.

  • Ahh, that's a shame. Luckily it's only a handful that have gone like that. I'll have to keep an eye on the weather and bring them in if it's too hot. Thanks for the reply.
  • Thanks very much for the advice. I'll give it another go. Always learning with this gardening lark. Cheers.
