What is eating my tomato plants?!

Some critter has eaten my tomato plants, leaving just 3 or 4 inches of stalk! Nearby I saw a bug that looked like a grey maggot, which I think may be a cutworm. Could this be the culprit? I planted a load more but in the morning, same thing - all eaten. My nearby strawberry plants (both toms and strawbs are in containers) are untouched. If it IS cutworms, how do I stop them eating my plants, and if it isn't then what is it??

Hi, Kerry....this is most probably the 'tomato caterpillar. It's totally green to blend in with the green fruits.
Wow. I've never heard of that one!
Mine were quite young, they didn't have any fruits yet. Never had a prob with toms before, but whatever this is it's DESTRUCTIVE!
