seeds

I asked a few days ago where my cosmos seeds may have vanished to.. sowed direct.. well now half my night scented stock seeds have vanished! some in apot, some in a hanging basket and some in a  bed, all germinated and i thinned out a little.. few days later, 1 or 2 left at beat! aaarrghhh! what  is eating them?!

Al sorts of things eat seeds, including us!  Could be some of your beloved garden birds.  Sow thickly:

One for the rook, one for the crow / One to fail and one to grow.

    Or, alternatively:

One for the slug, one for the snail / One to grow and one to fail.

I sowed cornflowers in plug trays, watched them germinate, and lost half a tray in the night to a 1 cm long slug  I found sheltering underneath.

Always a good move to check underneath seed trays and pots for the little b*stards.  Try not to tip the compost out.
