my first succulent

OK might sound strange, but yes this is my first succulent. I have put it in a terracotta pot, with a mixture of half hort grit and half Multi-purpose. I have also mulched with hort grit. Did I do right? Any other tips to looking after succulents.

And watch out for Vine weevils in the roots. Many, if not all, succulents dislike insecticides, so spraying is not a good idea.
Hi Pansyface, I don't have the label to hand, but it has small orange/white daisy like flowers. I remember the name began with a 'D'

Not really, they are fairly bomb-proof. Some of them are really hardy too. They can stand some frost as long as they are dry. I keep mine in an unheated very well ventilated greenhouse over winter and they seem to survive, even during the really cold winters of a couple of years ago.
There are a fair number of different ones available these days too.
