What is flowering now in your garden?

hogweedhogweed Posts: 4,053

I thought it would be interesting to see what is flowering in folks' gardens and to see what the difference is in the seasons between north and south (and even west and east).

I live in central Scotland and at the moment I have flowering:

Cornus kousa; a small yellow climbing rose (lovely perfume); the first of the oriental poppies; weigela; foxgloves just starting; ceonothus; a very dark maroon iris; persicaria bistorts superba. The aquilegias are now finished and what's the white perennial with a beautiful scent? It's almost over. It's got a similar flower to honesty..........

My Aquilegia is almost finished, I have the first few Hollhock flowers, some Lillie's are about to open (a smaller variety not my tree Lillie's) and I have my first 2 Papaver Harlmen opened.

I have a few flowers in my red climbing rose (whose name escapes me), new Iceberg climber has a lot of buds but not opened yet, as does my Many Happy Returns rose, my 4 'cheap' roses from Aldi haven't got any buds on yet (image) not sure if that's because they are rubbish and won't flower or maybe later varieties.

My 'Daisy' plant whose proper name I have only just learnt and can't remember is also flowering brilliantly (starts with an A I think).

I think that's all for now.....oh, apart from Marigolds.

Argyranthemums....that's what my Daisies are called really.

I also have Geum  Totally Tangerine flowering and a geranium Himalayense.  I probably have some others but can't remember them all......don't know how Verdun and others do it image

Just shows how different places have their own seasons.  Like nut, my aquilegias are still in full bloom but so are most of the foxgloves.  Also half of the delphiniums are blooming and about half of the oriental poppies have opened.  One Hesperis M. Alba is close to finishing but the other which is in part shade is in full bloom.  Lots of clematis now and the odd anemone blanda is still in flower.  Hundreds of Welsh poppies which I spent yesterday removing to make way for other stuff, but don't seem to have made much of a dent - happy yellow and orange faces still everywhere!

O.l my rose from aldi is a hybrid tea called pink favourite, it' s doing well, though bring swamped , like everything, by geraniums! Don' t know what type, very tall, magenta flowers, another smaller pale pink geranium, rhododendron, astrantia, aquilegia, roses, Gertrude, climbing iceberg, st swithun, mme gregoire staechellion, lots of buds on new dawn, even 2 buds on eglantine that only planted as bare root in March,2 of my peonies, 6 more all still in bud, have been for 3 weeks! Violas, lavender stoechas, hidcote in bud, philadelphus in bud..concerned if more rain and no sun they'll all stay just in bud!

Verdun, what part of the country are you in? You are very much ahead of me. I have a lot of the same plants but very much still in bud.

And thank you, Hesperis matrionalis is the one!

At this time of year everything seems to be flowering and sometimes I wonder if there'll be anything left for later.

    But there's always lotsimage
