Dianthus reborn?

Birdy13Birdy13 Posts: 595

Last year this trough contained Dianthus Napoli (red) and Dianthus Bianca (purple and white)

I thought I'd cleared the trough out months ago then noticed these vigorous plants growing there.

They don't  seem 'juicy' like weeds but are very strong with very tough stems and as they appear to be very happy I'm loathe to pull them up until I know what they are. I'm also wondering whether I inadvertently planted them myself eg as unidentified bulbs found in the greenhouse.

Can anyone help please?

One of the willows, probably goat willow, Salix caprea.

Dianthus would be much nicer in that trough

They must have self seeded from somewhere. As I don't want a willow I'd better go shopping for something colourful and friendly.

Thanks Nutcutlet for the the identification.

Some more dianthus would be good. Smell nice too
