Sunflower and peppers being eaten

I have been growing hot and sweet peppers and some sunflowers in a small plastic greenhouse in my garden. The peppers are starting to get holes in them and some of the sunflowers have been eaten completely. Am i right in thinking this is likely to be slugs? If so is copper tape round the pots likely to see them off?
