5mm worms in potted plants.

Hello, can anyone help me please. I have a lot of plants outside on racks and some in a cold frame that I have grown from seed. On repotting I noticed lots of 5mm white/grey worms in the compost. On looking at quite a few pots they are widespread.

I gave away lots of plants yesterday and a lot are destined to go for sale for a charity in 2 weeks. The nearest I have come to them is fungus gnat worms. I don't know whether to bin them, help please.

Do you have/can you take a photo?  That would help identify them.

They do sound like fungus gnat larvae to me.  Those are pretty harmless except to very small seedlings.  To keep them down, use fine grit to cover the compost and water only from the bottom as the gnats (small flies) can't then lay their eggs on the surface of wet compost which is how they proliferate.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
