Strawberries have mystery holes in leaves

I've grown strawberries for years and never in my life have I seen this!!!

What on earth has caused it? do any of you lovely people know? I've got 3 containers full of strawberries and it's only on a few leaves in one container. I've more or less always grown them in containers and never ever had a problem until now.

It looks like some sort of bacterial or fungal thing to me - there's all sorts of things about this year following such a mild winter.  I'd remove the affected leaves and burn them.

Don't fertilise too much - it makes soft growth and the leaves are therefore more susceptible to such things.

  • Ohh I thought they where holes! On closer inspection they are little black spots. I'll go and do that now!!!

I've not fed these ones yet because they haven't even flowered.

    Thank you image
